Leah’s relationship with horses started at the age of three and has developed over nearly 40 years. After relocating to the San Diego area in 1994 she started grooming for an English/Arabian training facility. It wasn’t long before Leah’s talents became apparent and she was starting youngsters and competing locally.
In the words of Martha Harrington, the Grand Dame of the San Diego equestrian community, “Leah is a heck of a hand…and an awfully nice young woman!” Martha followed up her endorsement with, “Just wanted to add that Leah is very good with colts. Sandy (Arledge) gave (Leah) the tough ones … and she did a good job with no complaints!”
Leah’s philosophy is straightforward: there must be understanding and good communication between the rider and the horse. Her core value is to keep the rider and horse safe at all times. Helping people have a better relationship with their horse is Leah’s first priority. In Leah’s words, “Horses are very willing animals. It is possible for your horse to want to do what you ask, with you, as opposed to making the horse do what you want.”
Leah’s relationship with her own beloved Arabian, “the Boy” spans 30 years and is still going strong.
